President Abinader clarifies optional utility bill submission for Public Employees

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader clarified that the Ministry of Public Administration’s recent provision, requiring public sector employees to submit water and electricity bills at their workplaces, is optional rather than mandatory.

During the “La Semanal” press conference, Abinader explained that the initiative aims to identify employees who may benefit from government subsidy programs, like Bonoluz, which provides assistance for essential utilities. This approach could particularly support lower-income employees struggling to cover these costs.

The president emphasized that while optional, this measure could be a useful tool to help those most in need of financial relief.
