ISFODOSU makes waves at the 2024 Santo Domingo International Book Fair

Santo Domingo.- The Salomé Ureña Institute for Teacher Education (ISFODOSU) marked its presence at the 26th Santo Domingo International Book Fair with the grand opening of its booth and the announcement of several new publications.

The opening ceremony, held at the Museum of the Dominican Man, was led by ISFODOSU Rector Dr. Nurys del Carmen González Durán and Book Fair Director Joan Ferrer. The event was graced by the presence of Minister of Culture Milagros Germán, Minister of Education, Science, and Technology Dr. Franklin García Fermín, and Deputy Minister of International Relations of the MESCyT, Paula Disla.

Dr. González highlighted the institution’s commitment to developing a publications area focused on academic content, research, and literary works that contribute to the national bibliographic collection and the education of Dominican children, youth, and the general public.

ISFODOSU has a packed schedule of activities throughout the fair. On November 12th, at 3:00 PM in the Hall of Academies of the National Library, Dominican writer Mateo Morrison, to whom this year’s fair is dedicated, will present the Poetry Series, which compiles works by some of the most prominent Dominican poets, including Salomé Ureña, Fabio Fiallo, Manuel del Cabral, and Franklin Mieses Burgos.

Other highlights include a poetry recital dedicated to Salomé Ureña on November 10th at the Museum of Natural History, the launch of the book “Marine Artisanal Fishing (2017-2020)” on November 11th at the National Library, and the presentation of the ISFODOSU Educational Model on November 15th.

ISFODOSU’s participation in the book fair underscores its dedication to promoting literacy, education, and Dominican culture. By sharing its publications and organizing a variety of events, the institute is making a significant contribution to the intellectual life of the nation.
