Recent rains displace 1,767 people and isolate 54 communities

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has reported an increase to 1,767 people relocated to safe areas, with three rescued, due to recent heavy rains across the country. According to a COE bulletin, 54 communities are now isolated, although no roads or bridges have been damaged. The number of affected homes has risen to 489, with three completely destroyed.

The COE noted that conditions from the tropical wave and trough will continue to bring rain, particularly along the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts. The public is advised to avoid crossing rivers, streams, and ravines with high water levels and to avoid recreational areas with high turbidity. Families in homes on steep terrain are urged to watch for signs of landslides to ensure safety.
