Surgeons review the most advanced techniques in operating rooms

Santo Domingo—For three days, Surgeons from the Dominican Republic, other Latin American countries, and the United States reviewed the most advanced surgical techniques and the incidence of diseases in which patients are involved.

The doctors made their most diverse presentations at the XIX Conference, which was dedicated to the memory of the Dominican scientist Dr. Juan Manuel Taveras Rodríguez. He is the founder of the Center for Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine Diagnosis (CEDIMAT), which organized the meeting.

The central theme and motto of the day were “A reflection of constant surgical innovation,” reaffirming the organization’s commitment to medical updating.

Topics covered

The scientific conference focused on the latest advances in endocrine, bariatric, colorectal, hernia, and orthopedic surgery, with presentations presenting innovations in each of these areas. Among the topics were advances in selective parathyroidectomy, noted for its precision in removing affected parathyroid glands.

Other procedures

Radiofrequency therapy for thyroid nodules also effectively reduces nodular volume and avoids surgery in specific cases. In colorectal surgery, transanal techniques and robotic procedures that maximize precision and reduce risks were addressed.

Doctors were present at most of the conferences.
