Legislators push back on Abinader’s proposal to limit vehicle exemptions

Santo Domingo.- In response to President Luis Abinader’s request for legislators to limit their exemptions to just one vehicle, deputies are asking for the elimination of privileges in other sectors before agreeing to give up this benefit. During a recent press meeting, Abinader proposed capping the number of exemptions that congress members can claim.

Under current law, both deputies and senators are allowed to bring up to two vehicles into the country, with no restrictions on brand, engine size, or cost.
