Passports to operate in new building with monthly rent of RD$8,941,575
Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Passports (DGP) will move its offices to the Epokal 253 building, located between Roberto Pastoriza Avenue and Tiradentes Avenue. The 11-story building, with nine floors dedicated to office space, covers approximately 9,832 square meters.
Despite its modern amenities, local residents have expressed concerns about the area’s parking capacity. One citizen, Yordi, pointed out that the lack of parking spaces in the vicinity could lead to traffic congestion as people may be forced to park on the streets. The building itself offers 135 parking spaces, along with several levels for administrative offices, and an additional 1,080 square meters for storage and extra parking.
The DGP has signed a five-year rental agreement with Inmobiliaria Reservas SA for RD$696,930,106.86, which includes both the cost of leasing the building and the maintenance of its facilities. This translates to a monthly rent of RD$8,941,575.69.

This rent is over US$ 1,800,000 per year. Wonder who are the people who own this property?
Corruption at its finest…corrupt pieces of garbages the gov and each of us Dominicans for allowing this.
Monthly rent for newly constructed office in central Santo Domingo rents for USD$30 to USD$40 per month per meter without maintenance.
At 9,836 meters, this is between RD$17,771,000 and RD$23,695,000 per month. At RS$8,941,000 per month, this seems to be a well negotiated lease that discounts based on the size of the space lease. Plus, the lease includes maintenance, which almost no lease includes.
Yes. It is a big rent, but it is also a big space. More context in the article would have been helpful.
Does this government agency need this space? That’s up for debate. However, is this lease overpaying for the space? No. It isn’t.
