Dominican Republic and Uruguay sign digital signature agreement

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic and Uruguay have signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen cross-border recognition of digital signatures, reflecting both countries’ commitment to advancing technology and data protection. This agreement aims to enhance digital infrastructure and foster innovation in key public administration sectors, benefiting citizens in both nations.
The agreement was signed by Guido Gómez Mazara, President of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL), and representatives from Uruguay’s Electronic Certification Unit (UCE) and Electronic Government Agency (AGESIC), including Hugo Odizzio and Hebert Paguas. The collaboration will involve joint educational initiatives, training programs, and the exchange of best practices and technical information.
Gómez Mazara emphasized that mutual recognition of digital certification and trust services would help build stronger relationships between institutions, businesses, and citizens, fostering innovation, e-commerce, and secure information exchange. The agreement was signed digitally during a live-streamed event, with participation from officials of both countries.
