Nigerian fugitive arrested in Dominican Republic to be handed over to Haiti
Santo Domingo.- The Human Trafficking and Smuggling Investigation Department of DICRIM apprehended Nigerian national IK EGBOR, who was wanted by Haitian authorities. The arrest followed his attempt to obtain a travel document in the Dominican Republic, claiming he had lost his identification. However, migration records revealed no legal entry into the country.
Haitian authorities confirmed that EGBOR had escaped from prison on March 3, 2024, during a mass breakout. Previously, in 2022, he was detained at Toussaint Louverture International Airport for allegedly carrying drugs in his abdomen while attempting to travel to Paris.
Following an international alert and joint investigation with the General Directorate of Migration, EGBOR was identified and detained. He will be extradited to Haiti’s Bureau Lutte Trafic Stupéfiant (BLTS/DCPJ) to face judicial proceedings.
Send him to the tribe on the other side.
