Social Assistance Plan responds to flood victims in the Dominican Republic
Puerto Plata.- The director of the Social Assistance Plan of the Presidency, Yadira Henríquez, has mobilized emergency kits to support families affected by recent floods in Puerto Plata, Samaná, La Altagracia, and Espaillat. These efforts include the deployment of the institution’s Rapid Action Brigade to assist impacted communities.
The emergency kits consist of essential items such as food rations, mats, sheets, mosquito nets, and bottled water. Additionally, teams are conducting damage assessments to ensure affected families receive the necessary aid.
Henríquez highlighted the institution’s broader impact, noting that over 1 million Dominicans benefited during Christmas through the Ruta de la Esperanza program. This initiative, part of President Luis Abinader’s Brisita campaign, provided nationwide support to vulnerable populations.
