911 manages gas leak emergency after 27 de Febrero Tunnel accident

Santo Domingo.- The National Emergency and Security System 911 promptly addressed a traffic accident in the 27 de Febrero Avenue tunnel in the National District, which caused a gas leak and involved four vehicles. Emergency teams were deployed immediately to ensure public safety and manage the situation efficiently.

Four DIGESETT units closed the tunnel and managed traffic flow in the surrounding areas, while the National District Fire Department dispatched three units to contain and resolve the gas leak. Health services also mobilized four ambulances from the Directorate of Extra-hospital Emergency Services (DAEH), two Civil Defense units, and one COMIPOL unit to assist those affected. Three individuals received medical treatment at nearby facilities.

The 911 System praised the coordinated efforts of all agencies, which allowed for the swift resolution of the emergency and the reopening of the tunnel. Authorities reminded citizens to yield to emergency vehicles to ensure timely responses during critical situations.
