DIGESETT’s plan for Aventura and Villa Navidad at Olympic Center
Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (DIGESETT) has announced a pilot plan to manage vehicular flow during the Aventura concerts at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center on December 27–29, 2024, and January 5, 2025. Colonel José Hernández, DIGESETT spokesperson, outlined the operation’s goal to minimize congestion typical of large events in the area. Key roads such as 27 de Febrero, Máximo Gómez, Ortega y Gasset, and John F. Kennedy avenues will see personnel deployment to ensure smooth access for concertgoers and maintain regular traffic flow for other citizens.
The plan includes measures to prevent illegal parking and restrict access to nearby residential and commercial zones, with some flexibility as needed. Notable areas like Miramar, Kennedy, and Naco will receive special attention due to high traffic volumes. To further ease congestion, Hernández encouraged attendees to use taxis or public transportation, citing their efficiency in reducing vehicle numbers.
DIGESETT agents will be stationed at critical points throughout the events, with additional logistics support inside the Olympic Center. Restrictions within the venue have been coordinated with concert organizers to accommodate simultaneous events, including the Villa Navidad festival organized by the National District Mayor’s Office. This comprehensive strategy aims to balance event logistics with public convenience.
