Berklee in Santo Domingo 2025 grants $3 million in scholarships

Santo Domingo.- The sixth edition of Berklee in Santo Domingo 2025 concluded with remarkable success, celebrating the participation of 203 young Dominican students and awarding 29 full scholarships to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Valued at US$3 million, these scholarships mark a significant investment in the future of Dominican musical talent.

The event, hosted at the National Conservatory of Music from January 6, culminated in an emotional closing ceremony at the Manuel Rueda Hall of the Fine Arts Schools building. Presided over by Minister of Culture Milagros Germán, the ceremony underscored the program’s transformative impact on young musicians. Germán emphasized the importance of initiatives like this in shaping lives through music and education, highlighting it as a proud milestone in her tenure.

A Week of Intensive Learning and Collaboration

The program was made possible through the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture (MINC), the AES Dominicana Foundation, and the Itabo Electricity Generating Company. Over the week, students participated in intensive workshops led by esteemed Berklee faculty and Dominican musicians. Public masterclasses covered topics such as songwriting, music production, and collaboration in audiovisual media, featuring notable figures like Pavel Núñez, Radha Acosta, and Marc Yu. A special session on Latin Grammy Foundation opportunities further enriched the experience.

The event culminated in a grand concert showcasing 18 student ensembles, whose performances reflected their newfound skills and creativity. The audience’s enthusiastic ovations highlighted the program’s success in nurturing talent and inspiring excellence.
