Dominican Army detains 54 undocumented Haitians

Montecristi.- The Dominican Republic Army’s 4th Infantry Brigade intercepted a jeep carrying 19 undocumented Haitians in Ranchadero, Montecristi. The vehicle’s driver fled upon encountering military personnel, abandoning the immigrants.
In additional operations across the northwest region, 35 more Haitians—22 men and 13 women—were detained in areas including Don Miguel, El Tamarindo, and Capotillo. Six motorcycles were seized, and Dominican national Netali Contreras was arrested for legal proceedings.
At the El Libertador checkpoint in Dajabón, authorities stopped a motorcycle transporting three undocumented Haitians. The driver, Quilvio Manuel Abreu Domínguez, was placed in custody, while the detained immigrants were handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for repatriation. These efforts reflect ongoing measures to address irregular immigration in the region.
