Dominican Republic and Guyana strengthen defense cooperation
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic and Guyana have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance strategic alliances and international cooperation in defense and security. The agreement was signed by Dominican Defense Minister Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre and Brigadier Omar Khan, Chief of the Guyana Defence Force.
The MOU focuses on tackling shared security challenges, including illicit maritime trafficking and cyber threats. It also aims to expand military training, improve interoperability, and strengthen joint operations for peacekeeping and crisis management.
Additionally, the agreement promotes collaboration in defense policy development, acquisition of military equipment, and strategic surveillance across maritime, air, and land domains, reinforcing both nations’ security capabilities.
