Dominican teen identified among bodies found in plane’s landing gear in Florida

Santo Domingo.- One of the two bodies discovered in early January in the landing gear of a plane at Fort Lauderdale Airport has been identified as 16-year-old Dominican teenager Elvis Volquez Castillo, who had been reported missing by his family.

His mother, Ironely Castillo, confirmed the identification after U.S. investigators traveled to the Dominican Republic on Monday as part of the ongoing investigation. Volquez Castillo, who lived with his family in La Altagracia province, was found inside a JetBlue aircraft that had arrived in Florida from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport.

Authorities continue to investigate how the bodies ended up in the plane’s landing gear compartment.
