Santo Domingo.- The U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic has adhered to President Donald Trump’s directive prohibiting the display of the LGBT pride flag at diplomatic missions. This policy, issued by the U.S. State Department, restricts embassies from flying any flag other than the American one.
The measure reverses a practice allowed under former President Joe Biden, who had permitted the display of LGBT and Black Lives Matter (BLM) flags at U.S. government buildings as part of his commitment to human rights and equality. Biden had long supported LGBT rights, implementing policies to promote inclusivity during his administration.
As part of the new administration’s stance, content promoting LGBT initiatives is now restricted in U.S. facilities both domestically and abroad. Following this directive, the U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic recently displayed only the American flag, marking a departure from previous practices.
Excellent…
For the same reason that the Dominican Consulates only display the flag of the Dominican Republic and do not display any other flags. These are representative missions of the USA. Political flags and private group flags have no place since they do not represent the official designation of the mission.
