Dominican Republic expresses solidarity with U.S. after deadly plane collision
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), extended its condolences to the United States following a tragic mid-air collision near Ronald Reagan National Airport. A passenger plane carrying 60 passengers and four crew members crashed into a Black Hawk military helicopter with three soldiers on board, resulting in no survivors.
In a statement on its official X account, MIREX expressed deep sympathy for the victims’ families. U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed Thursday morning that the nation had transitioned to a recovery mission. Among the victims were world champion figure skaters Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, leaving behind their son, who was not on the flight.
The crash, involving American Airlines and military personnel, marks the worst aviation disaster in the U.S. since 2009.
