40% of the country’s free zone companies are in Cibao

Santiago — 40% of the country’s free zone companies are located in Cibao, with 80% of them being industrial campuses. This is due to the fact that the Santiago Free Trade Zone Corporation (CZFS) has developed a modern infrastructure that promotes the internationalization of Dominican products from the Víctor Espaillat Mera Industrial Park (Pivem).

Miguel, president of the Corporation’s Board of Directors, highlighted this during the ceremony to celebrate CZFS’s 50th anniversary, which was attended by Presidentesident of the Republic Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña.

Lama stressed that CZFS has been a key player in consolidating projects such as the Cibao International Airport and the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS).

“The Santiago Free Trade Zone Corporation celebrates its 50th anniversary, highlighting its leadership in developing key infrastructures for the economic growth of the entire region, promoting a greater flow of investments and new business opportunities. The Corporation was born 50 years ago as a seed of hope to improve employment from a distant and isolated corner of the city,” he said.

In his words, the Lama touched on vital issues such as education. He added that the country must take it seriously in order to compete globally.

At the event, the incorporation of the Santiago Business City was also announced for productive, logistics, industrial, and corporate activities, as well as an educational hub to support employment and attract investments.
