National Unity Party: Haiti’s crisis solution lies within its own elites

Santo Domingo.- Omara Corporán, president of the Youth of the National Unity Party (PUN), reiterated the party’s strong stance on defending Dominican sovereignty and expressed support for U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s recent remarks on the Haitian crisis. Rubio’s call for Haiti’s elites to resolve the country’s issues was welcomed by the PUN, which urges other nations to collaborate in finding sustainable, respectful solutions.

Corporán emphasized that the Dominican Republic’s sovereignty is non-negotiable, highlighting the U.S. government’s refusal to pressure the country into accepting large numbers of Haitian migrants as a validation of the nation’s immigration policies. He also called for unity in addressing regional challenges and stressed the ongoing responsibility of every Dominican to protect their nation’s independence, echoing the legacy of national heroes.

I’m fed up with the constant talk regarding this topic and no radical actions have yet been taken by the government or society at large. The authorities need to cooperate and do much more to tackle this issue.

Want to protect the country’s sovereignty? Fine and imprison locals who rent homes to illegal migrants. Go after companies and employers that hire 90% illegals instead of giving those jobs to Dominicans. Charge and imprison border guards that engage in corruption and smuggle illegal migrants into the country. Set up an intelligence force that is well-trained and 100% committed to going after and dismantling human trafficking groups near border areas. I could go on and on.
