Johnny Arrendel retracts claims linking journalists to USAID

Santo Domingo.- Johnny Arrendel, known for his activity on X, issued a public statement retracting his claims that journalists Edith Febles, Altagracia Salazar, Marino Zapete, Huchi Lora, and communicator Mariasela Álvarez were linked to USAID. He admitted that his statements lacked verification and were based on unconfirmed information from a previously trusted source.

Arrendel apologized to those affected and committed to sending them a direct communication. He attributed his error to the political climate and nationalist sentiment, acknowledging his responsibility in spreading unsupported claims. He also announced the deletion of the related posts.

While retracting his statements, Arrendel emphasized that discussions on the transparency of foreign aid in the country remain valid but should be addressed separately from his previous accusations.
