Abinader proposes restricting state advertising for media that spread disinformation
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader has called for a policy restricting government advertising contracts for media outlets that engage in defamation, spread fake news, or promote unethical content.
Speaking at his weekly press conference, Abinader emphasized that misinformation harms Dominican democracy and must be addressed decisively. While he acknowledged the necessity of government criticism, he stressed that false accusations undermine democratic values.
Although no specific regulation currently exists to govern state advertising in such cases, the president suggested the need for a clear policy to ensure responsible media practices.
