Uber drivers in the Dominican Republic demand regulation and transparency

Santo Domingo.- Uber drivers in the Dominican Republic are calling for government intervention due to alleged irregularities on the platform. Their main concerns include unjustified account closures, payment issues, and system failures that impact their earnings.

Drivers are also requesting greater transparency in fare calculations, particularly regarding payments per kilometer and time spent on trips. Additionally, they seek improvements in the shopping service at supermarkets and better verification of airport trips to prevent fraudulent transactions.

A group of affected drivers recently visited Uber’s local offices to voice their concerns. The company requested 10 days to address their complaints, but drivers continue to urge authorities to establish regulations ensuring fair treatment and proper oversight of foreign ride-hailing platforms operating in the country.
