President Abinader leads National Flag tribute during Homeland Month

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader led a solemn ceremony in honor of the National Flag this Thursday, marking the 181st anniversary of National Independence. The event took place on the steps of the National Palace, with the presence of Vice President Raquel Peña, First Lady Raquel Arbaje, government officials, and members of the Armed Forces and National Police.
The tribute began at 8:00 a.m. with the raising of the National Flag and the playing of the National Anthem by the Presidential Guard Regiment’s Music Band. Military honors followed, including a 21-gun salute to the president.
Juan Pablo Uribe, president of the Permanent Commission for National Anniversaries, emphasized the significance of the ceremony, stating that President Abinader pays tribute to the flag with gratitude and respect. He also honored María Trinidad Sánchez, a national heroine, and in her memory, the president and first lady received the Commemorative Medal for the 180th Anniversary of María Trinidad Sánchez.
The event concluded with a performance by the San Miguel Choir of the Dominican Republic Army. Among the attendees were the Ministers of Defense, Education, Culture, Youth, Interior, and Police, along with senior officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and National Police.
