Authorities to implement stricter border security measures with Haiti

Dajabón.- The Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, and the director of Migration, Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, announced stricter surveillance measures along the border with Haiti. These new provisions aim to enhance border security and optimize entry controls, with increased immigration operations, additional vehicles, and technological resources to support the repatriation of undocumented immigrants.

Raful reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to controlling illegal immigration, emphasizing its priority for national security. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez called for coordinated international support in addressing the crisis in Haiti, urging greater financial backing for the Multinational Security Support Mission. Speaking at the Annual Conference of the American Chambers of Commerce in Miami, he warned that humanitarian aid is crucial to preventing further instability and a potential surge in migration affecting both the Dominican Republic and the United States.

Amid growing international criticism of ongoing deportations, President Luis Abinader defended the government’s actions, asserting that no external entity has the authority to question measures taken to protect national integrity and peace.

The press releases continue with… stricter measures, more troops, new ID technology, drones, walls, arrests, and ect. Yet, the filters do little to stop the illegal immigration. The border mafias run the show.

Isn’t this what should have been done since years ago or even since the border line was established? LOL
