Authorities seize cocaine-soaked paper and folders at Las Américas Airport

Santo Domingo.- The National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) and the Public Ministry intercepted two shipments of cocaine disguised as everyday items at Las Américas International Airport (AIA). The first case involved 39 sheets of paper soaked in cocaine, detected by canine units during an inspection at the Dominican Postal Institute. The package, sent from San Pedro de Macorís, was destined for Fort Myers, Florida.

In a separate operation at a shipping company in the National District, authorities discovered a box containing glass cups and ashtrays filled with shredded folders impregnated with cocaine. This shipment originated from Boca Chica and was bound for Glenside, Australia.

Officials continue to investigate these smuggling attempts, highlighting the increasing sophistication of drug trafficking methods. The DNCD and the Public Ministry reaffirm their commitment to strengthening security measures at ports and airports to combat illicit drug shipments.
