ANJE praises President Abinader’s speech

Santo Domingo.- The National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) commended President Luis Abinader’s recent speech as comprehensive, aligning with many of ANJE’s priorities for 2025. Claudia Finke, ANJE’s president, acknowledged the government’s progress in strengthening institutions and promoting economic and social development but emphasized that challenges remain. Education was a key focus, with ANJE supporting improvements in technical and university education while advocating for a National Qualifications Framework to expand opportunities for graduates.

On employment, ANJE backed the government’s goal of achieving 50% formal employment within four years but called for clearer implementation strategies, especially for MSMEs. The association also supported policies to boost university graduate employability and expand formal MSMEs to 350,000 by 2028 but stressed the need to reduce tax and labor burdens. Regarding economic stability, ANJE noted a decrease in public debt relative to GDP but urged continued efforts for fiscal sustainability. It also underscored the importance of job creation in reducing poverty.

ANJE welcomed progress in renewable energy but called for modernizing transmission networks and addressing electricity fraud. The association also highlighted the need for continued police reforms to enhance security and foster a favorable business climate. Additionally, it supported environmental sustainability initiatives, creative entrepreneurship, and gender-focused policies as essential for the country’s future.
