Total Lunar Eclipse to be visible from the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- A spectacular Total Lunar Eclipse will take place on the night of Thursday, March 13, continuing into the early hours of Friday, March 14, offering a unique celestial display visible from the Dominican Republic.

The eclipse will unfold in several phases:

  • Penumbral Phase: Starts at 11:57 PM on March 13, barely visible to the naked eye and only detectable with telescopes.
  • Partial Phase: Begins at 1:09 AM on March 14, with the moon beginning to show a reddish hue.
  • Reddish Half Moon: At 1:50 AM, the division between the illuminated and shadowed parts of the moon will be apparent.
  • Total Eclipse: From 2:26 AM to 3:31 AM, the moon will take on an intense reddish color.
  • Partial Phase Ends: At 4:47 AM, followed by the conclusion of the eclipse at 6:00 AM.

This event offers a rare chance to observe the Earth’s shadow and appreciate the planet’s shape. The total lunar eclipse provides an extraordinary opportunity to see a “Total Eclipse of the Earth,” with the sun fully blocked by the Earth from the moon’s perspective.

The next total lunar eclipse visible in the Dominican Republic will occur on June 25, 2029. Those interested in viewing the event should find a location with minimal light pollution for the best experience.
