Dajabón.- Haitian residents in Dajabón province have accused agents from the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) of seizing their money and belongings during immigration operations, calling the actions outright theft. Several individuals reported losing cash, food, and other items without any possibility of reclaiming them.

Antony Pierre stated that every time immigration officers conduct operations, they take large sums of money, with 2,500 pesos stolen from him on Monday. Estifany Pie, a food vendor at the Dajabón border market, said officers entered her home and confiscated all her money. Lourdes Francois also claimed that her brother was a victim of similar raids.

Additionally, Dominican boarding house manager Bartolo Franco reported that agents regularly raid his property, breaking down doors and taking money and phones from Haitian women, while avoiding other nearby homes. He called on authorities to address the issue, pointing out the apparent targeting of specific locations.

This is outright predatory. I fully support the deportation of Haitians who are in the country illegally, but these operations should be done more humanely.
