Joshua Riibe claims excessive police surveillance during Habeas Corpus hearing

La Altagracia.- During his habeas corpus hearing, Joshua Riibe alleged that Dominican authorities have subjected him to excessive police surveillance since being detained for questioning in connection with the disappearance of Sudiksha Konanki. Riibe stated that officers constantly monitor his movements, claiming that when he left his room briefly and returned, they appeared visibly angry with him.
“If I sit down to eat, they sit with me,” he said, illustrating what he perceives as restrictions on his freedom and movement. He also expressed concerns about the level of scrutiny he is facing.
Riibe is being questioned as the last person to have seen Konanki, a U.S. student who traveled to the Dominican Republic for spring break. The two were reportedly together at a Punta Cana beach in the early hours of March 6 before Konanki went missing. Authorities continue to investigate her disappearance while Riibe remains under police watch.
