Dominican Republic advances implementation of Amber Alert system

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic has taken a significant step toward implementing the Amber Alert system, following a key working session between legislative leaders and security institutions.
The meeting, led by Chamber of Deputies President Alfredo Pacheco, included representatives Carmen Ligia Barceló, Liz Mieses, and PRM spokesperson Amado Díaz. They met with officials from the Ministry of the Interior and Police, the Attorney General’s Office, the National Police, 911, the National Council for the Elderly (Conape), and the U.S. State Department to discuss the proposed law.
The initiative seeks to establish a rapid-response system to locate missing minors and individuals with disabilities. The Amber Alert would be activated in critical early moments, coordinating efforts between authorities, media, and the public. Representatives Barceló and Mieses emphasized the urgency of passing the bill, which is now under legislative review and expected to receive strong support.
