Strong winds and dangerous waves forecasted for the coming days

Santo Domingo.- A low-pressure system is causing strong wind gusts across several provinces, a phenomenon expected to last for the next five days due to an incoming high-pressure system and a cold front over the weekend, according to meteorologist Jean Suriel.

Along the Atlantic coast, wave heights will increase significantly, reaching 7 to 9 feet from Punta Cana to Puerto Plata. A special warning has been issued for small boat operators to remain in port, with the most dangerous conditions expected on Thursday before improving by Friday afternoon.

The gusty winds are also bringing a polar air mass, leading to colder temperatures, especially in mountainous areas and the Cibao region. Winds will persist into next week, prompting authorities to urge the public to take precautions.
