Ramfis Trujillo calls for support of Friusa march, denounces Gov’t’s deportation claims

Santo Domingo.- Political leader Ramfis Domínguez Trujillo has issued a fervent call for all Dominicans to rally behind the nationalist march set to take place this Sunday in Friusa, Bavaro. He frames the event as a demonstration against the escalating issue of irregular migration and what he perceives as the government’s inaction in addressing the border crisis.

During an exclusive interview on the program “El Matutino del País,” broadcast on De Último Minuto TV and El Seis, Ramfis directly challenged President Luis Abinader’s assertions. He claims that in the Friusa area, there is a distinct lack of any effective migration control. “I’ve personally marched in Friusa, visited Úbero Alto, and witnessed the situation firsthand. The president misled the public by stating that Migration is taking action in Friusa. If that were the reality, we wouldn’t see hundreds of undocumented individuals emerging from every corner,” Ramfis stated.

Speaking on the program produced by Héctor Romero and hosted by Jehimy Núñez, Nilson Abreu, Adrián Lebrón, Carolina Abreu, José Paulino, and Eduardo Martínez, Ramfis emphasized that his intention is not to politicize the march. Instead, he seeks to voice his support for a cause that he believes resonates with the majority of the Dominican populace. “This is a legitimate expression of the nationalist spirit that many of us share. We encourage our leaders and all Dominicans to participate with civility and determination,” he added.

Ramfis outlined his proposal for the establishment of a multi-layered border security system with Haiti. His plan includes the construction of a physical barrier, a 9-foot reinforced concrete wall, to replace the existing chain-link fence, which he deems “inadequate and easily breached.” Additionally, he advocated for an “economic wall,” focusing on the development of agricultural and business initiatives to stimulate economic growth in the border region. Finally, he proposed a “sociological wall,” aimed at reinforcing national identity, promoting law enforcement, and imposing strict penalties on those who facilitate irregular migration.

Furthermore, Ramfis called for a comprehensive review of nationality certificates issued to individuals of Haitian origin over the past 20 years, alleging instances of identity fraud and document trafficking.
