Santo Domingo.- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is scheduled to make an official visit to the Dominican Republic next Wednesday, April 30, as part of his ongoing tour of Latin America.
The visit is timed ahead of a significant milestone, as 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Dominican Republic. It also follows the recent opening of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Santo Domingo.
During his stop in the Dominican capital, Minister Lavrov is expected to hold high-level meetings with President Luis Abinader and Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez.
According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agenda for these discussions is comprehensive. The Ministry noted, “The agenda for these talks with our Dominican partners envisages discussing ways to expand bilateral cooperation, including the intensification of political dialogue, the expansion of trade, economic and investment ties, as well as relations in tourism, culture and humanitarian issues, while strengthening the legal framework governing bilateral relations.”
The statement also indicated that recent global and regional developments will be part of the discussions, underscoring the geopolitical relevance of the visit.
Lavrov’s visit highlights Moscow’s continued diplomatic engagement in the Latin American region and its efforts to deepen ties with countries like the Dominican Republic.
I hoping Dominican Republic makes the right choice, I know “The Empire” has helped DR but at the same time it’s makes absurd demands from DR . The Empire is on the decline, go east DR. It’s going to be hard at first , but DR will continue to go forward and further strengthen its position in the Caribbean region.
Helped? when?
Like migration into their country, there’s over 2 million Dominicans and Dominican descendants in the United States.
The east is on rapid decline… from china to japan to russia, look it up, these places literally face extinction because of there populations not being able to repopulate and economies going down the drain, and yet your saying look upon them for guidance.. go outside and play
IMHO your on the right track…
After China of Danilo, now the Russians . DR shame on you, letting criminals coming in!
just like how everyone lets our ‘criminals’ in their country..
The foreign minister is the adult in the room…welcome to paradise…
“Beware the
Greeks. Woops, Russians bearing gifts.”
