Santo Domingo.- ProDominicana and the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD) officially opened Agroalimentaria 2025, the Caribbean’s largest food and beverage fair, at the Dominican Fiesta Hotel & Casino Convention Center in Santo Domingo. The event, running through May 31, aims to solidify the Dominican Republic’s role as a top regional exporter of agricultural products.
During the launch, it was announced that agricultural exports in the first four months of 2025 reached US$1.12 billion—a year-on-year increase of 11.4%. In 2024, the country achieved a record US$3.27 billion in agricultural exports, up 17.7% from 2023. ProDominicana Executive Director Biviana Riveiro Disla and Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza both emphasized the government’s continued support through the 2020–2030 National Export Promotion Plan.
JAD President Roberto Serrano praised the fair as a successful public-private partnership. This year, Agroalimentaria 2025 has attracted over 200 buyers from 33 countries, including Slovakia, Cameroon, and the UAE, with more than 2,000 business meetings scheduled with 160 local exporters.
The country’s top agricultural exports in 2024 included tobacco (US$1.34 billion), cocoa (US$464.3 million), and edible fruits (US$342.3 million), with the United States, Haiti, and the Netherlands as leading markets.
