Traffic accident on Duarte Highway leaves 29 injured

Santo Domingo.- A total of 29 people were injured in a traffic accident early yesterday morning when a passenger bus overturned at kilometer 40 of the Duarte Highway, in the Madrigal sector of Villa Altagracia, San Cristóbal Province, while en route to Santo Domingo. The bus was reportedly carrying participants on a religious tour. The victims, including several minors, were transported to various medical facilities, including Doctor Rodolfo de la Cruz Lora Hospital, Hugo Mendoza Hospital, and Vinicio Calventi Hospital.

Emergency response was swift, with 16 ambulances from the Directorate of Out-of-Hospital Emergency Services (DAEH) dispatched to the scene. Additional assistance was provided by the Villa Altagracia Fire Department, the National Police, the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (DIGESETT), and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).
