Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that due to the rapid movement of a tropical wave over the Caribbean Sea, as well as local effects, wind-borne moisture, and the indirect influence of a weak trough, cloud cover is expected to develop, generating moderate to heavy downpours in several provinces this Sunday.
“Today, Sunday, during the morning hours, we will observe mostly sunny skies. However, in the afternoon and evening, we will notice cloudy increases generating moderate to heavy downpours, sometimes with thunderstorms and gusty winds due to the rapid movement of Tropical Wave #8 over the waters of the Caribbean Sea,” he indicated.
The entity added that rain is expected in provinces such as Monte Plata, Santo Domingo, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Azua, San Juan, Independencia, Bahoruco, Elías Piña, among other nearby towns.
In the National District, cloudy increases are expected, mainly after noon, with scattered showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
Wave train
A train of tropical waves moves from east to west in the waters of the Atlantic and Caribbean Seas. There are three tropical waves in total.

The first of these waves will hit Dominican territory this Sunday and the second next Tuesday, according to the Indomet report.
