Santo Domingo to host First World Congress of Veterans
Santo Domingo.- The Brotherhood of Retired Veterans of the Armed Forces and the National Police announced the First World Congress of Veterans, to be held in Santo Domingo from September 28 to 30 under the theme “The Transition to Retirement.” The event will bring together delegates from over 15 countries to address challenges and opportunities in retirement, focusing on public policies, international cooperation, and the well-being of veterans.
The agenda includes panels and lectures on national identity, pension systems, physical and mental health, women’s role in retirement, technology’s impact, and global experiences. Additionally, the audiovisual series “Voices of Experience” will feature testimonies from retired service members.
As part of the congress, the Dominican Defense and Identity Museum will be inaugurated, showcasing murals, historical artifacts, works by Dominican masters, and interactive exhibits. Major General (Ret.) Valerio García Reyes, president of the Brotherhood, highlighted the event as a step toward dignifying veterans and preserving national identity.
