Inposdom handles over 500,000 international shipments in first half of 2025

Santo Domingo.- During the first half of 2025, the Dominican Postal Institute (Inposdom) processed more than 500,000 international shipments, moving 2.75 million items and over 246 metric tons of goods. These results reinforce Inposdom’s growing importance in Dominican e-commerce and export logistics.

The main destinations include the United States, Europe, and the Virgin Islands, with the U.S. leading demand for products such as vehicle parts, artisanal goods like tobacco and beauty products, and electronic equipment and cell phone components. Shipments to the U.S. alone exceeded 200,000 kilos, reflecting a steady rise in the flow of Dominican exports abroad.

Inposdom Director Erick Guzmán highlighted that over 18,000 active users now rely on state postal services, and more than 45,000 citizens have used them nationwide this year. He emphasized that the growing volume demonstrates the sector’s recovery and the improved efficiency of postal operations. To maximize underused postal facilities, Inposdom is collaborating with other public institutions to convert these offices into multi-service centers.

One example is a recent partnership with the Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC) to install GOB Points within existing postal spaces—an initiative that allows citizens to access public services like passport renewals and certificate issuance, without incurring rental costs.
