Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader received a delegation from the Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) at the National Palace on Tuesday, led by its president, journalist Sarah Hernández. The session was swiftly characterized as highly productive, culminating with the President expressing his full support for the creation of the Dominican Tourism Museum, a significant project championed by the entity’s current executive board.

During the meeting, the Adompretur leadership presented the President with a preliminary proposal outlining the museum’s core concepts. The initiative aims to formally pay tribute to the nation’s tourism pioneers and recognize all individuals –from both the public and private sectors– who have made substantial contributions to the industry’s remarkable growth. Following the President’s immediate instructions, a specific Adompretur commission is scheduled to meet with the Director General of Museums, Carlos Andújar, who has already extended an invitation for the group to tour the potential museum site this upcoming Monday.

Adompretur’s involvement in national policy was also significantly expanded during the encounter. Hernández announced that the President agreed to formally include Adompretur in the Tourism Cabinet, acknowledging the crucial role of specialized media in effectively disseminating public policies, strategies, and key achievements within the sector.

“It is essential that journalists specializing in tourism actively participate in understanding and promoting the policies that govern this sector, which is the engine of the Dominican Republic’s economic, cultural, and social development,” Hernández remarked.

The President furthermore conveyed a strong interest in Adompretur participating in future projects focused on strengthening tourism promotion, sustainability, and sector-specific education, upcoming lines of action that the President himself is expected to announce soon. Hernández affirmed the organization’s commitment, adding, “We pledged our support to President Abinader for every initiative that promotes sustainable and inclusive tourism.”
