How is the abandoned Dajabón baby recovering?
Dajabón, DR.- The baby found wet and covered in ants next to a cherry tree in Dajabón is in stable condition at a medical center.
The newborn, approximately 25 days old, was rescued and taken to the Ramón Matías Mella Hospital. Authorities from the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI) told the newspaper Hoy that the baby is being kept in a warm environment and that her hospital admission is part of standard protocol for these cases.
They explained that heated cribs help maintain a stable body temperature for babies.
It is recalled that on Saturday morning, according to reports from border authorities, the baby was found near a food business in the main municipality of Dajabón.
Patrol officers arrived at the scene after receiving a call from the officer on duty, who reported that a person had come to the station to report the situation, according to the National Police.
