U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring for CBP officer positions nationwide

San Juan, PR —U.S. Customs and BorderProtection, the agency responsible for securing U.S. ports of entry andinternational borders, is accepting applications nationwide for CBP officerpositions at select locations.

As a key component of the Department ofHomeland Security’s frontline defense, a CBP officer’s primary responsibilityis to detect and prevent terrorists, their weapons, and other threats fromentering the United States while facilitating legitimate trade and travel. Thisrequire enforcing more than 400 laws related to trade, contraband, agriculturalpests and diseases, and admissibility of individuals.

An applicant for the CBP officer positionmust be a U.S. citizen and a resident of the United States for the past threeyears; must be referred for selection prior to their 40th birthday(preference-eligible veterans or those with prior civilian federal lawenforcement experience are exempt from maximum age requirement); possess threeyears of general work experience or a Bachelor’s degree in any area. Inaddition, applicants must pass an entrance examination, medical examination,physical fitness assessments, structured interview, drug test, backgroundinvestigation, and polygraph examination.
