US envoy visits Continuing Promise medical operation

Santo Domingo.- US ambassadorJames W. Brewster on Thursday visited Mirador del Este park where he met with USNavy officers and Dominican Defense Ministry officials to observe the progressof the Continuing Promise 2015 medical operations.

Brewster thanked theAmerican and Dominican personnel, as well as the NGO volunteers who support theoperation, for their dedication and commitment to the civilian-militaryhumanitarian assistance program.

Continuing Promise2015 began with the August 15 arrival of the USN hospital ship Comfort, which hasbeen conducting exchanges of experts, reconstruction of schools and freemedical services such as orthopedics, general medicine, mental health, dental,dermatology, cardiology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, among others.

Over 11,000 people areexpected to receive medical care and 100 minor surgeries were carried outduring operations.

Brewster shared withpatients, accompanied by Dr. Decker, Operational Coordinator at Parque del Esteand Dr. Nelson Arboleda, of the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
