Dominican Free Zone workers get US$22 wage hike

Santo Domingo.- Laborand management representatives in the Free Zones on Wednesday announced anagreement to raise the that sector´s minimum wage by15%, as established by the LaborMinistry´s National Salaries Committee (CNS).
Through the agreementwhich takes effect October 1, Free Zone workers would add RD$1,000 (US$22.20)monthly to their base pay, some of which are around RD$5,000 (US$111.10)monthly, although Dominican Zones Free Association (Adozona) president JoséTomás Contreras.
In a statement CNS directorFelix Hidalgo lauded the agreement on “its importance for labor peace.”
