W2M-BDX launches first electric fleet in Dominican Republic tourism sector

Punta Cana.- W2M-BDX, the World2Meet inbound operator in the Caribbean, has introduced 25 electric vehicles to its fleet, becoming the first tourism company in the Dominican Republic to adopt sustainable mobility on this scale. This milestone supports the transition toward cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation in the country’s leading tourism destinations.

The announcement was made at JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar, during an event on electric mobility in the Bávaro–Punta Cana region, attended by key figures including Milton Morrison (Executive Director of INTRANT), Gloria Fluxà (Iberostar Group VP and Chief Sustainability Officer), Juan Tomás Díaz Infante (President of United Petroleum), and Katia Taneva (Director of W2M in the Dominican Republic).

Marga Ripoll, Caribbean DMC Regional Director of W2M-BDX, highlighted that the move toward electric mobility will enhance the competitiveness of Dominican tourism while protecting the environment and promoting responsible economic development. The new fleet will reduce CO₂ emissions, NOx, particulate matter, smog, and noise pollution, while providing opportunities to use renewable energy such as solar power. Over 60 months of operation, the electric vehicles are expected to prevent a significant amount of CO₂ emissions, reinforcing W2M-BDX’s commitment to climate action and sustainable tourism.
