Mayor’s Office carries out operation to recover public spaces on Boca Chica Beach

Boca Chica.- The Mayor’s Office of Boca Chica, led by Mayor Ramón Candelaria, carried out an extensive operation on October 29 to reclaim public spaces along the town’s main beach. The initiative, coordinated by Eduardo Fersola, director of the Department of Real Estate, Assets and Public Spaces, and supported by the Municipal Police, aimed to remove unauthorized structures that had long restricted public access to the sand area.

According to Fersola, the measure followed a transparent legal process based on Law 176-07, which empowers municipalities to regulate and recover public property. Prior to the operation, formal notifications, inspections, and technical surveys were conducted to ensure due process. During the operation, technical teams dismantled unauthorized booths, chairs, and umbrellas, documenting each intervention for the official record.

This action forms part of a broader urban recovery and territorial planning plan promoted by Mayor Candelaria to ensure open access, strengthen municipal authority, and preserve the sustainability of Boca Chica’s coastline. Local authorities confirmed that similar efforts will continue across other areas of the municipality.

Residents have welcomed the move, recognizing it as a step toward cleaner, more organized, and accessible public spaces that reflect transparency and commitment to the collective good.

This is just part of the unending cycle of entities taking over public spaces as their own. The authorities will push them aside and over time the entities creep back to continue the cycle.
