Mexicans’ interest in Dominican Republic tourism is growing: they represent a 38% year-on-year increase.
The Dominican Republic continues to solidify its position as one of the top Caribbean destinations for Mexican travelers, and the latest figures strongly confirm this. According to the Monthly Report on Non-Resident Arrivals, published by the Ministry of Tourism ( Mitur ), interest from this market is experiencing one of its most dynamic periods in recent years.
Between January and October 2025, the country received 130,958 Mexican visitors, an annual growth of 38% and a monthly average of 13,096 tourists, figures that show a sustained and rising trend.
The profile of Mexican travelers remains remarkably balanced: 63,886 women and 67,072 men have visited the island so far this year. In terms of age, the 21-35 age group stands out with 45,286 travelers, followed by the 36-49 age group with 38,417, while the 50+ age group comprises 32,392 visitors. Families are also present, with 8,034 children aged 0-12 and 6,829 young people aged 13-20.
The geographic distribution of visitors reveals a broad reach throughout Mexico. The most significant volume comes from other states of the Republic with 49,899 passengers, followed by Mexico City with 36,581, the State of Mexico with 19,821, and strategic states such as Jalisco with 10,116, Quintana Roo with 7,939, and Nuevo León with 6,603 visitors.
Regarding departure points, Benito Juárez International Airport leads the list with 46,801 passengers (35.7%), while Felipe Ángeles International Airport continues to gain ground, registering 34,033 passengers (26%). This diversification points to a notable increase in air accessibility for Mexican travelers eager to discover or revisit this fantastic destination.
Once in the Dominican Republic, the airports receiving the most Mexican travelers show a precise distribution: Punta Cana accounts for 61.3% of arrivals, followed by Las Américas in Santo Domingo with 38.4%. The Cibao (0.2%) and Puerto Plata (0.1%) airports account for a smaller share, reflecting a preference for the country’s leading tourist destinations.
The busiest months also show outstanding performance. July registered 19,630 Mexican travelers (+54.8% compared to 2014); August, 16,676 (+51.8%); and November, 14,963 (+63.2%).
The sustained growth confirms not only the increasing affinity of Mexican travelers for the Dominican Republic but also the country’s strength as a versatile, vibrant, and competitive destination. These figures solidify the strengthening of tourism ties between the two nations and reaffirm the Dominican Republic as one of the most attractive destinations in the Caribbean for the Mexican market.
Thanks to the boost from the “Dominican Republic Smiles at You” campaign, which conveys the warmth and hospitality of the destination, as well as the constant development of new experiences and increasingly solid connectivity, even more Mexican visitors are expected during the winter holiday season.
With its unparalleled blend of culture, nature, and iconic beaches, the Dominican Republic reaffirms itself as a paradise that has everything to end the year with an unforgettable getaway, according to Clase Turística.

My guess is the sargassum invasion and the cartel violence at home is what’s prompting more Mexicans to come to DR.. Plus the Mexican peso is stronger.
