Ministry of Culture expands presence in the United States

Santo Domingo.- In a bid to promote Dominican culture in the United States, the Ministry of Culture (MINC) has inaugurated five new offices of the Directorate of Dominican Culture Abroad (DCDEX), expanding its presence to six locations across North America.

These new offices complement the existing one in Washington Heights, the hub of the Dominican community in New York, and aim to enhance access to cultural and educational activities for a broader audience within the diaspora.

The expansion includes openings in strategic locations such as the Bronx district in New York, Patterson and Perth Amboy in New Jersey, as well as Boston and Lawrence in Massachusetts.

Furthermore, plans are underway to establish offices in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and Bridgeport, Connecticut, before the year’s end, catering to sizable Dominican populations residing in these areas.

Rey Andújar, director of DCDEX, emphasizes the significance of this initiative in strengthening cultural bonds with the Dominican diaspora. “We are dedicated to showcasing the richness and diversity of our culture wherever Dominicans reside,” stated Andújar, crediting Minister Milagros Germán for her forward-thinking approach.

“This expansion enables us to engage closely with our communities abroad, offering them a platform to preserve and enrich their cultural heritage,” added Andújar.
