Haiti demands probe into deaths of nationals in Dominican Republic

Port-au-Prince, Haiti.- The Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship expressed sorrow on Tuesday over the deaths of three Haitian nationals in the Dominican Republic. They called on Dominican authorities to investigate the circumstances and identify those responsible.

“The Haitian government regrets that, once again, Haitian citizens have been victims of inhuman treatment in the border area and neighboring territory,” the ministry stated. They noted that the Haitian Embassy in Santo Domingo has been informed and will follow up on the case.

Recently, the Support Group for Repatriated and Refugees (GARR), a Haitian NGO advocating for migrants’ rights, reported the death of a repatriated individual and the double “murder” of Haitian nationals within a week in the Dominican Republic.

The organization condemned the “trivialization of the lives of Haitians in the neighboring country” and described the situation as a “worrying turn of events.”

GARR reported witnessing the death of a 23-year-old Haitian woman during her repatriation by Dominican authorities. On the same day, their border information network alerted them to the “brutal murder” of two Haitians on Dominican soil.

The organization lamented the conditions in which the young woman died, attributing it to the “inconsiderate, inhumane, and brutal actions of Dominican immigration officials.” They labeled the imprisonment of suffering migrants without care as “cruelty without limits.”

GARR further criticized the “systematic hunt for Haitian migrants,” seeing it as an extortion attempt against those who contribute significantly to the Dominican economy. They implored Dominican authorities to treat Haitians with dignity, emphasizing that “even animals have the right to be treated with dignity.”

“It is common practice in the Dominican Republic for Haitians to be slaughtered for no reason. When it is not the Dominican military, it is ordinary citizens who are responsible for killing Haitians,” GARR stated.

Inform your beloved countrymen to stop crossing our border illegally and committing crimes and fraud in our territory. Let’s start there, sir minister.

very funny , these people are so desperate for attention, so the Haitians getting deported from DR is more important than what going on their side of the island. Fix your own country, stop complaining, and whining about a foreign country and government. Get to work, beggars!!

The biggest enemy of a Haitian is a fellow Haitian, I’ve seen it plenty of times In Santo Domingo, they argue and fight with each other over business. No wonder why they killing each other by the hundreds in Haiti. They have no unity, they need to focused on fixing their own country and stop complaining about how we treat them

From the comments, I can tell a lot of people do not know history. If ANY country had to deal with multiple countries trying to crush them (research and understand the methods) over hundreds of years, they would be in a similar condition.

Also, try to remember how most of the construction projects are being completed in the DR. The country’s real estate growth (which links to the tourism and economic growth of the entire country) is tied to Haitian laborers. Hurt them at your own peril.

Finally, for those that wish to pull the “genes” card, you should be reminded that everyone, initially, came from the African continent. Plus, we all know which groups have the most warring natures, over all of history. Knowledge is better than ignorant emotional outbursts.

This is the problem. The Dominicans are just giving their opinion about their own country. The reason we have Haitian labor is bc of this rich corrupt oligarchs who drive down the cost of labor. Dominican dan you just sell out to your own people or maybe just a hatian.

Immigration has to be tightened and enforced and illegal migration stopped. Haiti is destroying itself and soon the people will start to flee in even larger numbers and the closest spot for them to run to is their neighbor- DR.
