New York.- Juan Soto is expected to make a decision about which team he will sign with before or during the upcoming MLB Winter Meetings in Dallas, scheduled for December 8-12. The star outfielder has already met with several teams, including the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Blue Jays, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. These discussions remain confidential, and Soto’s agent, Scott Boras, has asked the teams to submit their initial offers before Thanksgiving.
Soto, one of the most sought-after free agents this offseason, is coming off an impressive season in which he finished third in the American League MVP voting. He posted a .288 batting average with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs, and 129 walks. Over his seven-year MLB career, Soto has accumulated a .285 average, 201 home runs, 592 RBIs, and 769 walks. His postseason credentials are also notable, having set records as one of the youngest players to hit multiple postseason home runs and achieve a high OPS, surpassing legends like Mickey Mantle and Derek Jeter through age 25.
In 2022, Soto famously turned down a $440 million, 15-year contract offer from the Washington Nationals, which led to his trade to the San Diego Padres. After a subsequent trade to the Yankees last December, Soto helped lead New York to the World Series, where they were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
