Two fatalities and multiple incidents mark start of Christmas Operation 2024

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported two fatalities in the early hours of the Christmas Operation “Awareness for Life 2024,” both resulting from motorcycle accidents outside the road safety system. The victims were identified as Ignacio Figuereo, 66, and Wilvania Ogando de los Santos, 27.

A total of 15 traffic accidents were recorded, involving 12 motorcycles, 2 light vehicles, and 1 hit-and-run. Additionally, 34 individuals were treated for alcohol poisoning and 13 for food poisoning. The provinces with the highest number of incidents include the National District, Santo Domingo, La Vega, and San Pedro de Macorís.

The COE continues to monitor road safety and public health during the holiday season, urging caution and adherence to safety measures.
